New router, Wi-Fi adapter and didn't get the job 04/28/17

The ASUS RT-AC87U Wireless-AC2400 Dual Band Gigabit Router, AiProtection with Trend Micro for Complete Network Security came in the mail two days ago.

Even my Windows 10 computer could see it.  Woohoo!   Only it couldn't get up to 5ghz.  The adapter in my Dell wasn't 5ghz capable.

After I found that out, I ordered the adapter.

I just plugged it in and I'm getting 5ghz, finally.

I am such a happy woman. :)

I got an answer from the company that I took those three tests for.  I didn't make it.  They said that they only accept 12% of all their applicants.  I was pretty disappointed!   So onward to other things.  I am bound and determined to find work that I can do at home.

I haven't killed the plants yet and that's a good thing.

Time to hit the sack.

I'm going to visit my mom and pop early in the morning.

Return of the router and the end of test #2 and #3 4/23/17

The router came in at around 10 AM yesterday.  As soon as T-Jay got up he installed it.

The iPhone, the iPad, the Android Phones, MAC computer and the computer running Windows 8.1 all worked fine.

The problems started with the computers running Windows 10.  No matter what we did, the Windows 10 computers could not see the router.  Looks like many people were having the same problem. No help online and no help from the routers website.  No fix in sight.

So here it is, all packed up and ready to be returned.  I'm so disappointed!

With all the fuss, I did manage to finish test number 2 and started on test number 3 for the work-at-home job that I'm trying to qualify for.  I had until 9:18 AM this morning to finish both of them.  I submitted the last test at around 6 AM this morning.  Now the waiting game starts.

I'm really enjoying the work.  I'm writing captions for videos. I will need lots of practice in order to become faster at it.  I've already learned a lot and am getting more comfortable with it.

By captioning three short videos, I've learned that Jon Steward sometimes studders and that many people talk really bad.  I'm glad that I can omit speech dysfluencies.  LOL...I had to look that one up on Wikipedia:

A speech disfluency, also spelled speech dysfluency, is any of various breaks, irregularities (within the English language, similar speech dysfluency occurs in different forms in other languages), or non-lexical vocables that occur within the flow of otherwise fluent speech. These include false starts, i.e. words and sentences that are cut off mid-utterance, phrases that are restarted or repeated and repeated syllables, fillers i.e. grunts or non-lexical utterances such as "huh", "uh", "erm", "um", "well", "so", and "like", and repaired utterances, i.e. instances of speakers correcting their own slips of the tongue or mispronunciations (before anyone else gets a chance to). "Huh" is claimed to be a universal syllable.[1]

While I was taking the tests, I was cooking and washing/drying clothes.  ^^^^Silly was helping.  NOT!  She was just taking advantage of the warmth.

Waiting on new router and part two of my test 4/22/17

I will begin the next part of my test today.  Once I log in I have 24 hours and I will need the internet.

Our router has been acting up lately.  It doesn't help that it is almost 10 years old, I'm sure.  So yesterday I ordered a new one from Amazon Warehouse.  It's  the NETGEAR Nighthawk Tri-Band  AC5300 WiFi Router.  It has pretty good reviews and was heavily discounted due to damage to the packaging. It's supposed to arrive today.
So last night, T-Jay decided to move our old router and cable modem downstairs in the dining room.  I would put it in my room, but I can't stand to go to sleep with all these light blinking at night.  My room stays pitch black when I go to sleep. I cut everything off through surge protectors.  My phone recharges facedown on a thick towel to keep it dark.

He got everything hooked up after getting a cable splitter from Wal-mart.  Of course, the router would not work no matter what he did.  We had no internet.  He finally got on the phone with a tech from the cable company.  After 30 minutes of, unplug this, unplug that, he was told that the router was not working and that he needed to set up an appointment for someone to come out.

By this time T-Jay was pretty frustrated and decided to move everything back upstairs, after all, everything worked before he moved it.   Sure enough.  Five minutes later we had internet. WTF?

When I got up this morning I got out the crockpot.  I have a pork roast cooking.

Seasoned with a package of dry soup mix, golden mushroom soup and plenty of red pepper.

I did all the running around I had to yesterday after work.  So I have no reason to go anywhere today.
Time for another cup of coffee then off to the shower and then to start on the test.

Waldmeister (Sweet Woodruff) 4/20/17

I have tried to grow Sweet Woodruff from seed for the past three year but could never get them to spout much less grow.  A couple of months ago I found a company, The Growers Exchange , that has them already started.  I ordered them a few weeks ago and they finally came in the mail yesterday.

They came well packaged and looked great.

I put them in the ground right away.  The directions tell you to plant them within four days.

This one I'm saving to give to my Mom.

I remember having Waldmeister Jello, topped with Vanilla sauce, in Germany when I was a kid.  When these plants bloom, I'm sure it will bring back a lot of fond memories.

I found a few recipes on Nadia Hassani's blog, Spoonfuls of Germany , that I'm going to try out.

Home Office Setup Redo 04/17/17

I spent Saturday afternoon rearranging my work area.  I needed the second monitor back up for a side job that I am interested in getting.

I applied for the job on Friday.  Took my first test on Sunday.  I was told that they would get back to me within a week.   It was only three hours later, on Easter Sunday, that they replied and said that I had potential.   I have my second and third test to do this weekend, and this setup will do just fine.  I'm pretty excited about it.  Am always looking for jobs that make me money without leaving home.

The Royal Empress Tree is coming back like crazy.  You can almost watch it grow.  It's downright scary.

She's Alive 04/12/17

It's my poor Royal Empress Tree that I thought was a bush.

I can't believe it made it back.   Poor thing, I kept on chopping it down because I thought it was a bush, not a tree.

I have two more coming in the middle of this month.  Can't wait to plant them and
get some shade back in front of the house.

It's Spring!! Time to declutter the shed and back yard. 04/10/17

That must have been ten years of stuff that I thought I was going to need sooner or later.
Later never came.

Now this is more like it.  A few odds and ends are left.

Almost everything that I wanted to keep fit into these three containers.  Mostly glassware and blankets.

Mmmhhh...I might now be able to keep the shovels and ladder in the shed.  Oh well, that's it for today.  Maybe tomorrow.

I see some weed pulling in my future.

The Wonders of Polyurethane. Planting Coleus. 4/9/17

I've noticed that whenever I wax and polish some of my furniture, at first they look beautiful, shiny, and dark.  After a couple of hours they are back to looking grayish and dull.

I remembered that I had some of the Polyurethane left from when I did my paper bag floor and decided to see if this would make a difference.

This is the top of my desk before.

This is a, I don't know what to call it but it's at the foot of my bed. Waiting for the Poly to dry.

Meanwhile, time to plant my favorite.

I put the seeds around the circle.

I also bought a pole for my light at the front door.  I knew I would be written up for attaching it to the house sooner or later.  This way I'm safe from the HOA's wrath.

Time for some breakfast.  I wanted some Tacos without the shells.

The left side of my desk is dry.  Time for the right side.

Top done.  You can see how dry and pale the left side looks.

Right side of desk drying.

Side of bed thingy before Poly.

Poly applied to bed thingy.

Desk is finished.  So much better and also easier to keep clean and shiny.

Half of the bed thingy.  Sure wish I could remember what this is called.  Stool?  Bench?

Finished, I think I'll call it a bench.  My pussy seems bored and sleepy.
