Every year around this time I bitch and moan about the helicopters coming down from my maple tree in the back yard.  They are everywhere and this was only this morning.  I've been sweeping them up every day.   It's supposed to rain this weekend, so they've got to go before the rain hits them.  Those rat bastards will grow on anything.

Once the tree stops pooping her seeds everywhere, I'm a happy camper.  She does give some awesome shade in the summer time. :)

I cooked a vegetable stew this morning and put the scraps in my blender with some water.  Then I gave it to the few plants that I've got growing already.  I hate to use fresh water to put outside so I save all my wash water in a bucket for the plants.  Everything is starting to sprout.  Maybe next week I'll start putting stuff in the ground.

I was going to use my capsule machine to make some vitamin C, but ended up filling the capsules by hand instead.  The powder is not fine enough, plus it is kind of sticky so the machine would not work.  Tomorrow I'll do some Turmeric, I know the machine will work for that. :)

LOL...this is how my crazy pussy keeps her feet warm.  Sometimes I walk into the room and the other monitor will have all kind of crazy stuff going on due to her feet being on the keyboard.  She broke the Chrome browser a couple of days ago, so I'll have to re-install it.  It's Firefox for now.

I haven't decided on what to do about the concrete floor yet.  I know it will be awfully cold in the winter without carpet, but carpet sure is expensive!  I did stop by a place called the Weekend Carpet Warehouse and they had a couple of big rolls of carpet on sale called "my mistake".  This is carpet that was installed  and then pulled back up because it was the wrong color.   I guess I could get two different colors and make some kind of design out of it?  I need about 280 sq ft.

While I'm making up my mind about what to put on the floor, I'm going to put rollers on the bookcaseonitsside aka  my desk and anything else I can put rollers on.  The stuff is just too heavy to keep on moving around.  I'm usually by myself when I get these hairbrained ideas about my furniture so I figure I'll make it a bit easier on myself.

This is what I'm seeing out of my window at my desk at work.  Isn't it beautiful?

Sunday, April 8th, 2012....Happy Easter

Since today is one of the rare days that I have completely off from work, I started on a project that I've been wanting to do for years.  Removing this butt awful carpet, that's been in the living room since 1974, I think.

I've been putting it off over the years because this room was always full of furniture and I really didn't know what to do with them while I was getting the carpet out.  Now that I don't have that much in the way of furniture, seemed like it's a good a time as any to tackle this job.

Since I'm by myself, I decided to cut the carpet in sections, roll it up, duct tape it, and move it outside for trash pickup tomorrow.

It was pretty nasty.  The carpet cut really easy and was dry rotted in places.  The padding was paper thin  and stuck to the concrete in spots.

I don't know what possessed me to think that the concrete underneath would be in a uniform color.  It was stained and painted in some spots.  I'll have to read up on how to prepare this concrete slab for painting.

Then there is this 1/2 inch space along the walls that I need to fill in.  I don't know what to do about the nails.  When I tried to pull them out, chunks of concrete broke off.  I tried to drive the nails in all the way, but couldn't.  I might need to get a bigger hammer.

Taddaaa!!   Good bye and good riddens!!

I covered the concrete up as much as I could with the rugs that I had.  Not too bad for right now, until I get ready to paint  it.  I'm waiting for a couple of warm days were I can keep the windows and doors open while I paint.

I took my little green house out of the kitchen and into the back yard.  Nice to have the kitchen back.

Hopefully the wind won't knock it down!

It's 6 PM and I'm done for today.  Fixed myself a nice cup of coffee and sat out in the front yard for a bit.  Couldn't resist taking a photo of my little visitor.

It was pretty funny how he let me take the photos....taking a few steps, looking at me...taking a few more steps....looking back at me.  It was like he was posing for me. :)

I was washing out a few glass jars the other day when I ended up with one metal lid missing.  I finally gave up and put the jars away...never thinking to check the garbage disposal.  Well, the rat bastard froze up on me.  Oh and I found the lid....all mangled up.

Been trying to fix it for days now.  I paniked and went to the store to buy a strainer so nothing could clog up that part of the drain.

Bought one of these tiny little dish drainers to put in the other side.   I remember years ago the disposal froze up.  It took over a week to get it running again.  Meanwhile it had gotten so stopped up that we had to bail water out of the kitchen daily.  I sure didn't want to have to deal with that again.  I remember that I ended up washing dishes in the bathroom sink.

Got together my tools.

I put the wrench in the opening on the bottom of the disposal and turn it left and right to try and loosen it.

Then from the top I used this plunger handle to get it to turn from the sink.

I was such a happy camper when I got it to run.  So happy of the money I saved by not having to call someone to fix it.  Everything was working fine until last night when I heard the familiar humming instead of the grinding noise when I turned it on.  Crap...back to the drawing board.  I'll play with it tomorrow.

I started on T-Jay's and my taxes today.  I can't believe I'm actually doing what I promised myself.   Not to wait until the last minute.  It's nice not to be in a rush for a change.

When I went to visit my mom last week, she shared a bag of Rainbow Trout with me, that her neighbor had caught.  I've been eating off of them for the last two days.  It had been a long time since I had fish.  I smothered them with onions and seasonings in a bunch of butter with some sweet potato and yogurt on the side.  Absolutely awesome!!

All done!

Yes, I used my fingers to get up some of the juice. :)
