Monday 12.26.2011 it's  over with and it's safe to go to the grocery store again.  Hopefully people will be in a better mood and not so full of stress and ugliness.  Tomorrow morning I'll take a little ride to Culpeper to buy some meat from Wilson's Meat Market.  Time for some turkey necks, gizzards and a steak or two.

I had an awesome weekend of NO work what so ever.   Two days off in a row...ha, I didn't know how to act.   I spent most of the time relaxing and crocheting.  Oh...never mind,  I did wash my car on Saturday.

Yesterday I went to see my mom and pop for dinner.  Mom had cooked this terrific roast of lamb with potatoes, gravy, broccoli salad and red cabbage.  She sent some home with me and that's what I had today.  That's the first time I've ever had lamb.  It's different, and I liked it.  After dinner we sat and talked with coffee and apple cake.  I'll have to get the recipe for that broccoli salad.  I know she put in broccoli, red onions, and raisins, but I don't know what she put in the dressing.   Anyway, needless to say, I did not get on the scale this morning.

My blanket, afghan, or whatever you want to call it, is ready to be put together.  I now have 128 pieces.

I ran out of yarn three times and could not find the same color anywhere, so I ended up getting a different color than I started with.  Hopefully it won't look too weird, but it really doesn't matter since I made it for me and it will serve it's purpose.

Well it's time for hot tea, some food, and LDN...then it's bedtime for me.

  1. so glad to hear that you had some time off and to yourself...but only 2 days?

dinner sounds delicious! i love lamb but only eat it on special occasions. but, have you ever tried wild game? it tastes kind of similar to lamb. i love wild game. and ya - get the recipe for the salad - it sounds deelish!

i can't wait to see the finished afghan - it looks pretty awesome so far!

glad to hear all is well! Happy New Year!

    your friend,

  2. The granny squares look awesome! I like the colors you chose, can't wait to see it all done!

  3. Kymber...HA, two days are plenty. I don't think I could handle much more before getting stir crazy. It would be different if I had no room mates...then I could think of plenty of things to do to keep myself busy.

Wild Game? I adore deer, rabbit, armadillo, possum etc. If it flies, swims, walks or crawls, I'll eat it.

Happy New Years to you too :)

  4. Kat...thanks. I'm hoping to get it finished in the next week.
Looks like you and I both are wishing time away...can't wait until this year is over!
I'm so sorry to hear about your rabbits. I hope you took care of that dog! Rat Bastard!

I know it is only the ramblings and rants of one woman, but I would love to hear from you.
